The Undergraduate Medical (UGM) Team contributes to the delivery of outstanding clinical education to Student Doctors on hospital placement from the University of Sheffield and University of Nottingham.
They facilitate their placements on the wards, as well as providing additional bedside teaching, classroom teaching, clinical skills teaching and simulation sessions.
They are a multi-disciplinary team composed of nurses, physiotherapists, doctors and administrative staff with the common goal of developing the next generation of informed and compassionate doctors.
As a hospital, we train medical, nursing and therapy students. The UGM Team is responsible for the Medical Undergraduate students.
These are students that are still studying medicine and have not yet become doctors but are placed in our clinical areas for specified periods of time. The team support medical students from two medical schools: Nottingham and Sheffield.
Student doctors may be in the clinical areas observing the qualified staff, or they may more actively involved in your care through speaking to you or examining you. If you would prefer not to have students involved in your care, please let the staff on the ward know.
Each student has an assigned supervisor from the Trust, as well as oversight and pastoral support from the UGM team. Should you have any concerns about a student or their conduct, please raise this with a member of staff.
If you have any questions please talk to a member of the team whilst they are on the ward, or contact the team on crhft.
The team are committed to ensuring students have the best possible experience on their clinical placements, and that they are supported through any challenges they may face in the transition to the clinical years and beyond.
The team have an office in the Education Centre that is staffed from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, and students are always welcome to drop-in with any queries they may have. Students on placement at CRH will have a contact number for the team which a member of staff will have out-of-hours for emergency support.
