Lead for Allied Health Professionals
The Allied Health Professions (AHPs) are the third largest workforce in the NHS. 13 of the 14 AHPs are regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) with Osteopaths regulated by the General Osteopathic Council (GOC).
The 14 Allied Health Professions are:
- Art therapists
- Drama therapists
- Music therapists
- Podiatrists
- Dietitians
- Occupational therapists
- Operating department practitioners
- Orthoptists
- Osteopaths
- Paramedics
- Physiotherapists
- Prosthetists and orthoptists
- Radiographers
- Speech and language therapists
Most AHP specialities contain different job titles representing different skill levels and experience. Examples of banding are listed below:
- Band 3 - Senior Therapy Assistant/Emergency Care Assistant/AHP support worker
- Band 4 - Assistant Practitioner/Technical Instructor
- Band 5 - Qualified Therapist/Practitioner
- Band 6 - Senior Therapist/Practitioner
- Band 7 - Clinical Lead
- Band 7 - Operational Lead
- Band 8a - Therapy Team Leader/Extended Scope Practitioner
