Our Children’s Ward is going on a bear hunt… But don’t worry, it’s hopefully not going to be for too long!

From Friday, 11 October 2024, due to essential water system maintenance, Nightingale Ward – our paediatric ward – will move to Basil Ward. The move will be called ‘Nightingale on Basil Ward’.

We hope to minimise any disruption this may cause as there will be no cancellations or planned changes to patient care or procedures during this time. Colleagues are working hard to ensure patients and families are supported and please be assured that we are prioritising safety and continuing care.

The planned move is for two weeks, but this will be reviewed regularly by estates and clinical colleagues.

There will be no change to telephone numbers for patients and/or colleagues.

Signage and wayfinding are being installed to support the move – including yellow signage throughout the Trust and films to highlight the new routes.

Important: The easiest route would be to park in Car Park 6, and come through Visitors Entrance and across the corridor and up a level (using stairs or lift), following signs for ‘Nightingale on Basil Ward’. There will be signage. We will also have volunteers to support wayfinding.
