Paediatric Bereavement Care Coffee Morning: Have you been affected by child loss?

Mac's Healing Hearts is a support group co-ordinated by local parents who have experienced the loss of their babies and children. The group meets on the second Monday of each month for a coffee morning.

These mornings provide supportive space for parents and families to come together, share experiences and connect. They are hosted by the Paediatric Bereavement and Trauma Team of Chesterfield Royal Hospital, along with Jo-Anne the founder of "Mac's Healing Hearts" and Lisa Fletcher, the founder of "Dresses for Angels". 

The next meeting is taking place this morning (Monday, 9 December) at The Sitwell Arms (from 9.30am to 11am).

December’s meeting is special – thanks to the generosity of The Sitwell Arms and its Managing Director, Jo-Anne Oldfield - as a free Christmas lunch will be provided after the morning.

Jo-Anne, from The Sitwell Arms, said: "Mac's Healing Hearts has been a lifeline for me. Losing Mac was the hardest thing I've ever faced, but this group has given me a place to share my grief and find comfort among others who truly understand. The support and compassion I've received here have helped me begin to heal and find hope again. I wanted to share this with people and co-founding this group, hosting the coffee morning and lunch are just some of the things we’ve done to keep positive after such a difficult time.” 

Claire Walker, Paediatric Bereavement and Trauma Support Specialist from the bereavement team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: "Mac's Healing Hearts brings a sense of positivity and hope to families during their most difficult times. The support and understanding within the group help parents navigate their grief and find a way forward together.

“I’m very proud that the team here at the hospital jointly co-ordinates this group and can offer this support and I’m particularly grateful to Jo-Anne and the kind support and generosity of The Sitwell Arms.
