The results indicate a generally better-than-expected performance compared to other Trusts.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has published the 2024 national maternity survey results. Conducted annually, this survey gathers feedback from women and other individuals who have used maternity services about their experiences. Participation in the survey was voluntary, and all responses were confidential and anonymous.

The maternity survey has been conducted since 2007. It targets a sample of individuals who gave birth in 2024, including all women and people over the age of 16 who had a live birth in February 2024. The survey covers experiences of antenatal care, labour and birth, and postnatal care.

This year's survey includes responses from 18,951 women across 120 NHS trusts. At Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, 151 responses were received from questionnaires sent out between May and August 2024.

Overall, Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust performs better than the national average in all surveyed areas, indicating a higher level of patient satisfaction compared to many other Trusts.

In addition to the survey results, Chesterfield Royal Hospital's maternity services were recently rated 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following an inspection in May 2023. The inspection highlighting the strong leadership and positive culture within the maternity department.

Furthermore, Chesterfield Royal Hospital has achieved the 'Breastfeeding Welcome Here Award,' recognising the commitment to supporting breastfeeding mothers. This award is a testament to our ongoing efforts to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for all families.
