UPDATE (10.15pm Sunday, 26 May): Thank you for all your support. We are pleased to advise that all the systems and processes affected by the lightning have now been brought back on line and are working normally. The issues have now been resolved and we’re back to business as usual. Thank you for your support and patience.

A lightning strike has caused some systems and processes across the Trust to be impacted. Nobody has been hurt or injured and we have put mitigating actions in place to ensure safety and ongoing patient care continues.

The weather is also increasing calls to our switchboard. This may result in some calls not getting through in a timely manner. We apologise for this and are working to maximum capacity to ensure this impact is reduced.

We would like people to know that they are to come to the Trust to get the right access to emergency care. This is especially important for women with reduced foetal movements etc or in labour. People are also being advised to utilise NHS111 for further guidance as needed.

Engineers and DSFS colleagues, together with the hospital team, are aware of the issues and working to resolve it. We expect further update by 10am on Tuesday (28 May) but will provide information as required if this changes.

Thank you for your support and patience.
