The competition, led by Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust on behalf of Joined Up Care Derbyshire, asked children to help mark the NHS’s 75th anniversary by creating an image to represent the appreciation, thanks and support for the NHS – which could reflect the care, treatment, services, clinicians or carers.
The theme for the art competition was ‘Thank you NHS’, and Keira aged 5 (age 3-7 category) and Erin aged 8 (age 8-11 category) were picked out of more than 100 entries, each winning a £75 voucher just in time for Christmas!
Caroline Wade, Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said: “We wanted people to capture, create or produce an image which represents appreciation, thanks and support for the NHS. We were delighted with the creativity shown by all the entries but these two were selected for their imagination and for really demonstrating the spirit of the NHS and people’s feelings about what it means to them. What a great way to round off NHS75 and all the celebrations this year!"
The artwork will be displayed at Chesterfield Royal Hospital and other NHS locations in Derbyshire, where it is hoped it will stay for many years to come.
NHS75 ends on 31st December 2023 and marks a year of celebrations across the whole NHS. Our Trust highlights include the opening of a new £2m Health and Wellbeing Hub at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, ‘Bake Off’ style competitions and a baton relay across the Derbyshire health system, as well as a host of country-wide events and celebrations, including a national photography competition.
