Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and AccessAble; the UK’s leading provider of detailed disabled access information, have launched new guides to improve the experience for people with accessibility requirements when visiting the hospital.
The detailed Access Guides to facilities, wards and services across Chesterfield Royal Hospital are 100 per cent facts, figures and photographs to help patients, visitors and colleagues plan their journeys to and around the hospital and services.
The guides cover everything from parking facilities and hearing loops, to walking distances and accessible toilets, and they were launched today at an event in the hospital’s Innovation Centre.
Steve Heppinstall, Director of Finance at Chesterfield Royal Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I am delighted to celebrate the work that we have been doing with our partners AccessAble and to launch our Access Guides to improve the experience for our patients, visitors and colleagues. We know that coming to hospital can be a daunting experience for some people, which can be exacerbated if you have additional accessibility requirements that make it more challenging.
“We hope that by providing visual, detailed guides to the facilities available here and what to expect, people will be able to plan their visit better and make their experience easier. I want to thank all the people who helped to support this work, and I also want to thank supporters of Chesterfield Royal Charity for funding this important project and helping us to give the gift of outstanding.”
All of the details in the Guide have been checked in person, onsite, by trained surveyors so they cover a range of different accessibility needs.
The guides can be found below and will be part of the Trust’s new website when it launches in a few weeks: View Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust’s Accessibility Guide.
It is also available via the AccessAble App which is free and can be downloaded from the App Store.
