The Care Quality Commission (CQC) paid an unannounced visit to us on Wednesday, 13 March 2024 with a focus on paediatric pathways, and visited the areas below:

  • ED
  • PAU
  • Paediatrics.

During the visit five inspectors looked at safeguarding, effective staffing, care provision, integration and continuity, shared direction and culture, as well as freedom to speak up - in relation to the the key questions; safe, responsive and well led.

The report has been published and we are pleased to confirm that our overall CQC rating remains as ‘good’.

Colleagues are thanked for their openness and honesty in supporting the visit.

Krishna Kallianpur, Chief Nurse, said: “I’m particularly pleased with the feedback we’ve received from the inspection. The CQC feedback confirmed that learning had been recognised from incidents and positive changes had been implemented. There is still more to do, especially with the temporary reduction in beds within Nightingale ward, which is ensuring safety. We will continue to do all we can to ensure we deliver safe care and review service provision through feedback from colleagues including through our Freedom To Speak Up Guardian process.”
