Urology Services

The Urology Team provides a multidisciplinary approach to care for patients with problems affecting the kidneys, bladder, prostate, penis and testes through a variety of general outpatient clinics as well as designated nurse-led clinics for erectile dysfunction, lower urinary tract assessment and flexible cystoscopy.

A modern-day case unit accommodates the prostate biopsy service as well as flexible cystoscopy, bladder chemotherapy/instillation and flow rate lists.

Specialist areas of interest include uro-oncology, renal stone disease, functional and female urology, laparoscopic kidney cancer surgery and prostate cancer.

Patients with suspected prostate cancer receive pre-biopsy MRI scanning with cognitive targeting of suspicious lesions. For patients with prostate cancer, the urology team facilitate one of the largest Prostate Cancer Support Groups in the UK.

All urological cancers are discussed at weekly multidisciplinary team meetings, which include a Consultant Oncologist from Weston Park. Our uro-oncology team participate in weekly video conferencing with both the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield and Derby City Hospital.

Our uro-oncology nurse specialists support our patients at the first diagnosis with expert advice and in the long term to ensure consistent contact for cancer patients.
