Orthopaedic Inpatients

The orthopaedic physiotherapy team provide assessment and acute management following trauma and provide support before and after a range of elective orthopaedic procedures.

Trauma

We aim to support you during your stay by assisting with safe mobilisation, increasing confidence and independence and providing equipment and techniques to help with recovery and pain management. We work closely with the Occupational Therapy team and other multi-disciplinary team members to ensure a suitable discharge plan is in place.

Elective

Elective hip and knee arthroplasty patients are seen before surgery within an education class (‘Joint School’). Here you will be provided with all the necessary information you need to know in preparation for your surgery and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions. We encourage a family member to attend this class with you also.
