Our Dermatology Service provides comprehensive and up-to-date Dermatology services within a dedicated unit where, except for a few specialist services the majority of our patients are treated and followed up in Chesterfield.
The department has several outpatient clinics, a dressings room/clinic, nurse-led skin camouflage, phototherapy, photodynamic therapy and acne clinics, and patch testing. We have two dedicated day case theatres, where we also carry out minor operations throughout the week.
We currently have several Consultant Dermatologists and an accompaniment of other speciality Doctors, Skin Cancer Specialist Nurses and inflammatory Disease Specialist Nurses. The additional nursing team also includes a Matron, Sister, Staff nurses, departmental practitioners and Health Care Assistants.
If your GP or Dermatologist has asked you to take a photo of your skin, the following guide will show you how to photograph your skin using a smartphone, and to send the images securely to your GP or Dermatologist.
Photograph sizes - Some smartphones may impose an image size limit. You may need to consider setting your camera or smartphone image resolution to a lower (e.g. medium) resolution. The size of any image sent must be less than 5MB.
The Dermatology Department at Chesterfield Royal Hospital offers different services to treat many different skin conditions including skin cancers. You are normally referred to the Dermatology department by your GP. If they suspect you may have skin cancer this will most likely have been done referred in by your GP as a 2-week wait.

The most common of which are psoriasis, acne, and eczema. However, we see many other common imflammatory skin conditions and offer a full and comprehensive service. We offer expertise in diagnosis and treatment including skin biopsy and investigations where necessary.
