We are a small team of Specialist Clinical Child Psychologists, based at The Den and Buxton Health Centre, Chesterfield Royal Hospital. We are trained and have the qualifications to understand the relationship between abilities, behaviour and development. We are regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council.
We aim to identify your child’s strengths and areas of need in terms of their development. This may or may not lead to a diagnosis. We then support you in understanding these needs and offer advice specific to your child following assessment. We collaborate with other Professionals and support the integrated assessment process.
We work with preschool, school-age children and young people up to 16 years of age who live in North Derbyshire with multiple and complex neuro-developmental needs.
We offer some parent training via workshops and programmes and individual early intervention but are unable to offer long-term follow-up. We can help you think about your short-term and long-term needs as a family. We will try to help you find out about appropriate local and national agencies and services that might help. You may want to stay in touch by attending one of our Parent Support Groups.
We see clients and their families in a variety of community settings across North Derbyshire including:
- The Child Development Centre (The Den at Chesterfield Royal Hospital)
- Local Health centres
- Schools and nurseries
- Families homes
