A Caldicott Guardian is a senior role for an organisation which processes health and social care personal data. They make sure that the personal information about those who use the organisation’s services is used legally, ethically and appropriately, and that confidentiality is maintained.

As a public sector body, we are required to appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO). This is an essential role in facilitating ‘accountability’, and the organisations’ ability to demonstrate compliance.

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 requires each public authority to produce a Publication Scheme.

Under Section 19 of the Act, we have a legal duty to adopt and maintain a Publication Scheme. The main purpose of a Publication Scheme is to make information readily available to the public without the need for specific written requests.
